Hello,

This is a neon sign window project for bbGourmet Maiorca here, in Porto.
It is a partnership with Porvocação / Pedro Caride.

Inspired by Wayne Thiebaud's paintings, we did several food related neon icons (cake, muffins, soda, burgers, etc), each one to be exposed inside a glass dome. We tried to make it as dynamic and vibrant as possible in order to make the window stand-out with all of its light and reflection.

The abstract photography work was done by Pedro Mkk.

Sketches:

Did a series of sketches before we decide which style suited the best to the project.
We were working with a very limited space; the glass domes were relatively narrow and fragile.
To build a neon structure inside was particularly tricky!
All of the sketches were made with those size and material conditions in mind as the neon tubes are 13mm diameter.

Vector Drawings:

We started to shape the things up and the final appearance of the object was becoming more and more clear.
According to the given domes, some of the objects would present themselves in a very vertical way while some others would be quite squared.

Final Result
We tried to get a bright dynamic mood out of the neons, capturing also the same color, light and rythm from the big city's avenues in the 60's.
